Champions your Children’s Wellbeing and Academic Success

  • Listens  compassionately to parents’ concerns and works on their behalf with the  Principal and Superintendent to resolve situations for the students and  parents
  • Welcomed  parent delegates concerned about special needs staffing cuts at a Ward  12 secondary school and garnered Board of Trustees’ support to review  the cuts
  • Supports program enhancements and improvements in Ward 12 schools
  • Attends Catholic School Parent Council meetings to learn and support school communities
  • Participates in school events to meet and talk with parents and staff
  • Worked with school parent community and staff to improve before and after school drop off procedures
  • Supports  community initiatives including the Kingston Galloway Orton-Park  Literacy Improvement Collective (KLIC) and the Kingston Galloway  Orton-Park Safety Network

Responsive to the Needs of the Local Residents

  • Works to resolve school issues of concern to local residents, such as after hours use of school turf field
  • Is  always willing to talk, meet and problem solve
  • Negotiated access to school green space and parking for local resident use on the weekends

Strong Advocate for Catholic Eduction

  • Successfully advocated with MPP and parent community for funding for a replacement school for Blessed Cardinal Newman
  • Advocates to the Ministry of Education for continued improvements to funding for school upkeep and curriculum
  • Consistently attends professional development seminars and meetings of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association
  • Nurtures working relationships with City Councillors, MPPs and MPs 
  • Supports Parish Pastors and Priests’ involvement with the schools in their Parish

Hardworking Trustee

  • Attends Committee and Board meetings consistently, contributes her knowledge and  experience
  • Currently Chair  of the Student Achievement and WellBeing, Catholic Education and Human  Resources standing committee, and the Executive Compensation Adhoc  committee. Current Vice Chair of  the Director’s Performance Appraisal Adhoc Committee. Previous Chair of  the Governance and Policy standing committee and Vice Chair of the Board.
  • Representative of the Board of Trustees on many committees in the last four years: Nurturing our Catholic Community Steering Committee,  Angel Foundation for Learning, Spanish Speaking Advisory Committee, Safe Schools Advisory Committee, Supervised Alternative Learning,  Mental Health Advisory Council, Canadian National Exhibition Association

Ongoing Educational Development

  • Currently  pursuing a Masters Degree in Religious Education at the University of  St. Michael’s College, Faculty of Theology, University of Toronto
  • Completed the Catholic School Governance Certificate Program, designed especially for Catholic School Trustees by the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association and the University of St. Michael’s College

Accomplishments since 2010


Worked alongside the local police, local community and impacted residents to mitigate a problem at the local school involving late night usage of the artificial turf field

Strengthening human resources initiatives for the development and productivity of TCDSB staff, such as promotion and performance standards and policies, and voted in favour of an attendance management program for all staff.

Successfully campaigned, alongside the local MPP, for funding from the Ministry of Education for a new secondary school building for Blessed Cardinal Newman

Graduated from the Catholic School Governance certificate program sponsored by the University of St. Michael's College, University of Toronto and the Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association http://www.ocsta.on.ca/distinctive-program-trustees/ 

Advocated for resident use of secondary school parking facilities and green space on the weekends

Assisted in the successful deficit reduction program resulting in an early end to a budgetary problem 

Worked with municipal, provincial and federal elected officials in Scarborough, seeking opportunities for collaboration for the good of our students and surrounding communities, for example, advocating for a community hub at St. John Paul II secondary school

Married with five children, all graduates of the TCDSB, and six grandchildren, three currently enrolled in TCDSB schools, and one great grandchild

30 years at the City of Toronto in Human Resources managing the City's annual learning curriculum for internal staff and delivering comprehensive career counselling services 

Faith and Community

Active contributor in St. Brigid's Parish, 1983 to present, current Coordinator of the Sacramental preparation programs for Confirmation and Baptism, Catechist for the Liturgy of the Word with Children program at Sunday Mass, Lector and Eucharistic minister, past Chair of the Parish Council and the Liturgy committee
